Consolidation is one of the major strategies that organizations are pursuing to achieve greater efficiencies in their operations. With Private Database Cloud, users can consolidate many databases on a consolidated system, especially using Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC) and the Oracle Grid Infrastructure. However, using consolidated environments imposes some challenges with respect to appropriate system configuration; or in simply terms: “How much is too much?” Consolidated environments require a stringent application of capacity planning rules, which apply to a Single Instance databases, Oracle RAC One Node or Oracle RAC databases in a very similar way. This session will present best practices and considerations when consolidating on to such a Private Database Cloud.
